Dronfield 10K race 2007
by Nick Smith 11th March 2007This road race in Dronfield, near Sheffield, was held on Sunday 11th March 2007, 11.00am start.
I really enjoyed the race (only my second ever), in which I set a new PB of 45:36 min 
Unfortunately I didn't know anyone doing the race, and I didn't have any supporters with me, but everyone seemed friendly and the race of 800 runners was well organised.
I was surprised just how quickly the field set off from the start. It was quite a steep hill right from the start (don't be fooled by the "gently undulating course" nonsense - it's got proper hills!!) and I forced myself to slow down instead of racing off with the leaders. I was pretty shocked at the 2km marker when I realised I was way inside my PB time - I thought I'd been going slowly. I kept a fairly steady pace for the rest of the race, and had just enough left for a short sprint for the finish line.
